The Only Mother's Day Gift Guide You Need
You heard us correctly - Mother's day has snuck up on us once again, this is your official three-week warning! Do not fret, we have got you covered with this super wholesome gift guide...
Did you know that Mother's Day celebrations date back as far as the ancient Greeks? They would actually hold festivals of worship to celebrate Rhea, the Mother of the Gods and Goddesses, every spring. Mothering Sunday is a Christian tradition that has been celebrated on the fourth Sunday in Lent, in the UK and Ireland, since the 16th century. The date varies in other parts of the world. Surprisingly, it's only since the mid 20th Century that giving gifts became commonplace to mark the occasion.
Gift-giving does not always necessarily mean you need to spend a lot of money - more often than not, it is genuinely the thought that counts!
So without further ado...
1) Acts of Kindness
There's nothing nicer than treating your mum to a gorgeously indulgent massage or pedicure. You could book in with an independent salon, a fancy day spa, or even do it at home yourself!
If you would like to carry out a DIY professional level pedicure at home, we love the Party Feet set by Lyco'Pedi - it has everything you need to recreate your favourite spa set up. It's the ultimate mini pampering experience.
We've even put together a fantastic step-by-step guide to achieving a spa-worthy pedicure at home
2) A Holiday (kind of)
OK so not a holiday, BUT it'll look like she's just been on the best holiday of her life! We all know that having a little tan can really give you a confidence boost, so why not give the gift of a glow this Mother's day?
If the uber-natural olive toned tan isn't enough to make you scream "TAKE MY MONEY", the exquisite floral fragrance of Peta Jane Beauty's bestselling tanning mousse will do it! The best part is that you can both get bronzed and walk straight out of the door for celebratory drinks, as this lightweight tan absorbs into the skin super quickly and will not transfer onto your best clothes.
If you can't be stepping off a real yacht in the French Riviera, you might as well look like you are - fake it till you make it, hunnies!
3) Luxury Bodycare
According to a consumer survey conducted by Statista Global in the UK in 2021, while 84% of respondents did indicate that they regularly use oral care & personal hygiene products, only 64% claimed to regularly use skincare items. This shows that although many of us are willing to spend time and money on 'necessities', we may not give our skin quite the love that it deserves. When was the last time you splurged on a bit of self-care?
If you know that your mum is less likely to buy lovely skin or bodycare products for herself, why don't you treat her to a gorgeous sugar scrub, a velvety body cream or even a CBD oil packed with goodness that she can add to her favourite moisturiser this Mother's Day?
And finally...
4) Quality Time
Sure, an expensive bottle of bubbly is a nice gesture, but at the end of the day, most mums will say that spending time with their grown-up children is priceless. Finding a fun activity that both of you enjoy - relaxing with a facemask on, cooking together or going for a walk - will probably make her day!
